Any domestic pet which is impounded in the animal shelter shall be kept with kind treatment and comfort. If the animal is not known or suspected of being diseased and has not bitten a person, it shall be kept in the animal shelter for at least five regular business days, unless it is sooner reclaimed by its owner. If the animal is known to be or is suspected of being diseased with a disease which might be transmitted to persons, it shall be kept in the animal shelter for at least 14 days.
