§ 34.071 WORKERS’ COMPENSATION.
   (A)   The town provides a comprehensive workers’ compensation insurance program at no cost to employees. This program covers any injury or illness sustained in the course of employment that requires medical, surgical or hospital treatment. Workers’ compensation insurance provides benefits after a short waiting period or, if the employee is hospitalized, immediately.
   (B)   All employees are covered under the town’s Workers’ Compensation Insurance Plan.
   (C)   Workers’ compensation insurance provides coverage for work-related injuries and illnesses as required under the workers’ compensation laws of the state. Workers’ compensation insurance covers all authorized expenses related to the treatment of a work-related illness or injury and provides “lost time benefits” when an employee must be absent from work on a workers’ compensation disability leave.
   (D)   Employees who sustain work-related injuries or illnesses must report the incident to the Clerk- Treasurer immediately.
   (E)   Workers’ compensation forms will be filed for all injuries. All employees will file their reports on the day the accident occurred. The degree of injury does not matter. If the employee has complications later, a properly completed form will allow a thorough investigation to be made in order to determine if treatment is to be covered by workers’ compensation.
   (F)   If an employee is injured and is physically unable to complete the balance of the workday, he or she shall be paid for the remainder of that day. Further absence may require the employee to apply for benefits pursuant to workers’ compensation.
   (G)   Neither the town, nor the insurance carrier, will be liable for the payment of workers’ compensation benefits for injuries that occur during an employee’s voluntary participation in any off-duty recreational, social or athletic activity sponsored by the town.
