§ 34.020 INTRODUCTORY PERIOD.
   (A)   Newly hired employees of the town, with the exception of police officers, shall be required to complete a 90-day introductory period. Employees should be evaluated on or about their completion of the 90-day introductory period. The evaluation should be discussed with the employees. During the 90 days, the department head or elected official should provide the employee with two reviews concerning his or her performance.
   (B)   Police officers will serve an introductory period consisting of the first 12 months of employment from the date of hire.
   (C)   The introductory period allows management the opportunity to closely observe and evaluate employee fitness and suitability for the position to which he or she has been hired. Only those employees who demonstrate an acceptable standard of conduct and performance during this period shall be retained in their positions.
   (D)   If the service of a newly hired introductory employee is unsatisfactory, he or she may be terminated at any time during his or her introductory period. Time spent on inactive pay status or non- paid leave of absence shall not be counted toward the completion of the introductory period.
   (E)   The introductory employee will not be allowed to take vacation leave during the introductory period. He or she may take any accrued sick or compensatory time if necessary. The introductory employee will receive holiday pay if a holiday occurs during his or her introductory period.
