For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
CANVASSER. A person who conducts surveys or solicits other economic sociological, demographic, product preference or other such information from households and occupants, but who does not directly or immediately offer to sell or take orders for any merchandise, services or other commodities based on such information.
CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION. Any nonprofit charitable, educational, religious, scientific or civic organization as described and defined in I.R.C. § 501(a) or 501(c) of the United States, and includes any regional, area or local affiliates, chapters or subsidiaries of such organization.
CHARITABLE SOLICITOR. A person who, without benefit of personal gain or profit, solicits donations or sells commodities, the net proceeds of which are dedicated to support the operation or purposes of a charitable organization.
COMMERCIAL SOLICITOR. A person who sells, offers for sale or solicits orders for goods, merchandise, subscriptions, enrollments, tickets, services, intangible commodities or any other commodities and who receives or expects to receive from such transaction any pay, commission, profit or other financial benefit or gain as personal remuneration for conducting such activities.
