133.07 INDIGENT BURIAL POLICY.
   (a)   Upon notice from a funeral home that it has a deceased indigent person for cremation or burial, the Village Administrator shall request residency and financial information from the funeral home and/or any other person claiming the deceased indigent person. The Village Administrator, in consultation with legal counsel, will make the determinations regarding first the residency of the decedent and then regarding the indigency of said decedent. If found that the decedent was a resident of the Village of Ada at the time of death and was indigent, the Village Administrator shall authorize the payment for cremation of the decedent's body in the amount of no more than one thousand dollars ($1,000.00). The Village Administrator is further authorized to apply for any reimbursement from any program for indigent burial or cremation.
   (b)   If it is found that the decedent was not a resident at the time of death or was not indigent, the Village Administrator is authorized to take action to collect the Village funds paid and shall contact the Village legal counsel to assist in collection.
