Whenever the following words or terms are used in this code, they shall have the meanings herein ascribed to them, unless the context makes such meaning repugnant thereto:
CITY: The city of Abingdon, county of Knox, state of Illinois.
CITY COUNCIL: Unless otherwise indicated, the city council of the city of Abingdon.
CODE: The city code of the city of Abingdon.
CORPORATE AUTHORITIES: The mayor and aldermen of the city of Abingdon.
COUNTY: The county of Knox, state of Illinois.
FISCAL YEAR: The period beginning with May 1 and ending with (and including) April 30 in the following calendar year.
ILLINOIS COMPILED STATUTES (ILCS): The Illinois Compiled Statutes, the latest publication thereof.
ILLINOIS MUNICIPAL CODE: 65 Illinois Compiled Statutes.
PERSON: Any public or private corporation, firm, partnership, association, organization, government or any other group acting as a unit, as well as a natural person.
STATE: The state of Illinois.
