54-9-11: VEHICLE AND EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE:
   ∙    Employees with assigned City assets are responsible to ensure that the vehicle or equipment being operated receives appropriate maintenance through the City’s Fleet Division. Worn, failed, or incorrectly adjusted components on equipment/vehicles could cause or contribute to accidents or breakdowns in the field. The City strives to prevent failures from occurring while vehicles/equipment are operated within the public right of way.
      °   All vehicles and equipment operated by City employees must be always maintained in a safe condition. In the event of an unsafe mechanical condition, the City owned vehicle or equipment must be immediately placed out of service and the appropriate Fleet personnel notified.
      °   Preventive maintenance inspection intervals will be communicated to each department for all vehicles and equipment. Preventive maintenance inspections are designed to keep vehicles in proper working order, safe, and emissions tested.
      °   When a vehicle is part of a division or department motor pool, the Division or Department Director, or his/her designee, is responsible to ensure that the vehicles or equipment receive appropriate maintenance through the Fleet Division.
      °   When a vehicle is part of a City-wide motor pool the Fleet Division Director shall ensure that the vehicle receives appropriate maintenance and inspections.
