§ 50.194 SERVICE FEE FOR RETURNED CHECKS.
Sewerage service charges are to be paid in accordance with the following procedure:
   (A)   Payment of the sewerage service charge can be made by check. Customers who pay by check assume all responsibility for insuring there are sufficient funds to cover the check issued for payment of sewerage service charges.
   (B)   A service fee of $20 will be applied to the customer's account for each check returned from the customer's bank for any reason. This fee will be added to the outstanding sewerage service charge balance for which payment was originally intended. The service fee is necessary to cover extra incurred expenses by the Water and Sewer Commission for processing the returned check.
   (C)   A notice will be sent to the customer after the returned check is received by the Water and Sewer Commission. This notice will inform the customer of the $20 service fee and also inform the customer that if all outstanding sewerage service charges (including the returned check fees) are not paid within five working days from the postmarked date of the notice, all water service charges or fees will be secured to the account.
   (D)   The service fee for returned checks is in addition to all other charges and penalties as described in the Water and Sewer Commission's rules and regulations.
